Happy Birthday Jenice! We wish we could spend your birthday with you but since we cant we wanted to send some personal birthday messages to you! Love you!
We spent Halloween in Tennesse with Daddy, Brenda and Hope. The kids really enjoyed being able to trick- or- treat in a new place. We had a wide assortment of costumes this year, that pretty much reflected the wide assortment of personalities that my kids display.
We had an amazing time in Tennesssee visiting my Dad for his birthday! It was gorgeous weather and the foliage was simply breathtaking! It is nice being able to get to see where they are calling home now and just take some time to catch up with them
Hope and i entertained ourselves at the Casey Jones museum.
We did travel the entire way there in our Nissan Sentra and I have to say.... my kiddos did amazing for being in such tight spaces for so long. However they did find ways to have their own space. This is pretty much how they traveled. (They had Dvd players inside their sweatshirts that they watched.)
Ben and Emma hiding in the leaves
Brenda Hope and I in the backyard!!
WE visited the place where one of the bloodiest Civil War battles was fought.... the Battle of Shiloh..... it was rteally interesting to walk the grounds. It was also one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen!
Well today was a big day in the Dungan house. I now have 2 kids in middle school. Wow........ when did that happen? As I cleaned up dinner last night I could hear the boys in their room talking and I just had to smile as I heard Jonnie giving Ben fashion advice for his first day of middle school. They are probably polar opposites in almost everything they do including the way they dress but for this one time Ben was listening intently and heading the fashion warnings. I drove them to school and was once again reminded of their different personalities when I asked Ben if he was nervous about finding all of his classes and he just looked at me,shrugged his shoulders and said " no ,why?" Jonnie could not sleep for a week before his first day of middle school, I just assumed he would be a little nervous..... not Ben. I was proud of Jonnie when we pulled up to school when he asked Ben if he knew how to get to the gym , Ben said " I ll find it, and Jonnie offered to walk him to the gym. Must be nice to be the new kid in school but still know that a big 8th grader has your back. There was no kiss or hug goodbye for Mom this year which was a first for Ben, my heart did sink a little. I realized that Ben is now transitioning, he needed his older brother a little bit more than he needed me today, and while I am so proud o how independent he is becoming....... I feel a little tug at my heart because I know this is just the beginning.
On a lighter side here is a picture of Emma on her first day of 3rd grade. ( Are you kidding me????? Are you really wondering where the pictures of the boys are???? Did you not hear anything I just said..... There was not even a quick hug offered up to me do you really think there would be pictures????) Emma however I am convinced will stand and smile for a picture as long as a camera is around. Here is my little girl ready to head out the door to school!
The boys being led outside to "open" their birthday present. Good thing it is a boat! This might be the only way we can get to school now with all this rain!
Ben's favorite painting is "Starry Night" by Van Gough so I attempted to re-create it using cupcakes.
Jonnie wanted a tie-dyed VW bus .....because when he grows up he either wants to be an architect or live in a bus...... just for the record I vote for the architect.
Jonnie in his new birthday shirt.... Thank you Aunt -Nae Nae,Uncle Chris, and Jack!
The boys birthday was really fun. We had a murder mystery party inside because it was so rainy and soggy outside. It was a fantastic game of whodunit. In the end Kirsten killed Bobby, with Dad's help but she did it for her son Jordan, oh and Jill and Jonnie were secretly in love. Lots of fun!!!!
They got a fishing boat which left them speechless. They also recieved lots of fishing accessories. I would attempt to tell you what they were but to be honest I dont know what they are all called or what they all do.I could try to describe them but we all know I would not do it justice and you could quit reading. We all had fun and now our lives have somewhat gone back to normal.
On Sunday Hope, Ben and Emma were all baptized by my Dad. I remember being baptized by my Dad as a little girl and it was pretty cool for 2 of my kids to get to have that same experience. It was really amazing to get to see them baptized at the same time as their Aunt Hopi. I was really prepared for some crazy story to pass along to you, I mean really weren't you expecting a crazy story? Seriously think about it, Ben and Emma in a pool on a stage during church, something funny was bound to happen, but alas everything went according to plan and was ......perfect. It was special and spiritual:)
Ben practicing before the big event Waiting patiently for their turn to come
It will be O.K , as long as I am with Grandpa seriously Grandpa, how long do I have to stay under for it to take?
The hopeful baptisees ( I am not sure that is a word:)
